Take your nose away from the grindstone and connect with people through sites like this one, Facebook, or other. Reconnect with people you know. Give them a call just to say "hello"...and don't wait for the famine to hit.

Each connection you make is a step toward building your business. It might seem like a waste of time to chat with the mailman or with your second cousin's best friend's brother, but everyone knows someone who knows someone who needs work done.
That's not to say you should spend all of your spare time chatting it up. Work smartly when you do this. 'Travel' in circles that will lead you somewhere.

When the work comes your way, don't be afraid to pass it along to someone else better suited. People appreciate help in making connections and what goes around, comes around. It's all a part of networking, and it's the best way to make your network grow. When your network grows, so does your business.
One of the best ways to promote yourself is through the use of promotional products. In a recent study done, clients remembered a company 72% of the time more frequently when they were given a promotional product.
For exampe there is power in the branding message of a t-shirt! Industry research has shown that every time a shirt is worn in public, over 200 people can see the branding message. Now that's some bang for your marketing buck!
Social networking - pure and simple. Just started Facebook ads, they are a pain but the majority of my ads have been approved. I also Twitter, Delicious, Furl, Squidoo, Propeller, go Articles, Digg, Tumbler. Twitter is good in that you can promote your latest project, you are found on other peoples lists and people check out your portfolio. Facebook you make a group of freelancers. You got the viral video idea as well, which I need bad! I love the monkey one it was funny

Build It and They Will Come

They only way you will have buyers beating a path to your door by "Simply Building It" is to have them come to your door first.

When delivering a product or service to the person making the purchasing decision you must make sure the the product actually meets NEEDs, address Wants and adequately controls their expectations.

This is accomplished by taking time to listen to them before you take the time and effort to "Build it".

Online Brand Management

Comments posted to forums, blog posts, profile pages on FaceBook, LinkedIn and even your social bookmarks contribute to how your brand is viewed.

It is worthwhile to give consideration to what you write, text, type, endorse, rate and photograph before hitting the enter key on your… Continue

Bastardized Brand Virtualization - Online Spin Blog Post

I found today's Online Spin blog post of interest. Trying to recap would not do it justice so I have included the full post below. While many online marketers are enthusiastically telling others to join SL, this post offers a contrary opinion (often my favorite kind of opinion!). I have also heard from some professionals who tried SL and did not find it to be a great business driver. I believe the message here as with all marketing… Continue
